Buying a gift for a bridal shower or a wedding can be fun, but it can also be a bit stressful! You want to get the couple something they can use, but you also want it to be meaningful. Many couples register for gifts, which can make shopping a bit easier, but it can also seem a little impersonal. I was recently shopping for a bridal shower gift for one of my friends from college, and the only things left on her registry were two small kitchen utensils under $10! I knew that couldn’t be all I got her, so I had to get creative! I ended up getting her the two utensils, a Texas A&M chip and dip tray, and one of my Junior League cookbooks because she loves to cook! While I wouldn’t suggest straying too far from the registry (that is exactly what they want, after all), it can be fun to slip a little something personal in your gift! Here are a few tips to help you choose something personal for your bride-to-be without breaking the bank!
1. Something specific to their interests and hobbies
While cookbooks are pretty much a standard gift for bridal showers, if the bride is an avid amateur chef, like my friend, a cookbook becomes much more personal! If the couple enjoys camping, perhaps a set of camping chairs would be a good option. Or, if they love spending time outdoors, find a cute outdoor blanket or picnic basket!
2. Something monogrammed
In the south, we monogram everything, especially for weddings! Add a monogram to towels, a cutting board, or find a large wooden monogram to hang on the wall! Many registries will indicate if the couple wants a monogram added to something, which makes deciding what to monogram much easier! However, if there is not an option to personalize the towels, skip it. They may just want them plain!
3. Something with shared meaning
Think about how you know the bride or the couple. For me, I met my friend Sarah at Texas A&M, so I knew she would love the Aggie chip & dip bowl. Her fiance is also an Aggie, so it was perfect! Are you friends from high school? Sorority sisters? Coworkers? Workout partners? Try and find something that goes along with whatever it is the two of you have in common- it will mean a lot to them, and they’ll think of you whenever they’re able to put your gift to good use!
